The Journey Continues (written December 2012)

Well, I left you all in August with me selling my little Appaloosa mare, Summer, to a wonderful family.  I was now in search of a new horse.  A new horse that could take me 100 miles if I decided I wanted to be that delusional.
I started asking around, and I got a few leads, but I had narrowed the field down significantly with all my requirements, so the prospects were looking rather bleak.  So - my great friend Lynn jumped right in with both feet and started helping me.  I swear she must have been surfing the web while she slept with all the suggestions she came up with.  One of the farms she found was Cre Run, in Virginia USA.  It was a racing barn of Arabs, and there were several on the website that looked very promising.  It took us a few days to work up the courage to contact them though, as they didn’t have any prices listed. (You know ... if you have to ask – you can’t afford it ...).
Well – am I EVER glad we did contact them. Not only did I find my next mount, I was able to have him vet checked by a phenomenal doctor who is world renowned in the endurance world and just happens to live in Virginia.  How lucky can one girl get!  Cre Run Farm was fantastic to deal with.  They were professional and helpful and answered any and all of my numerous questions.  They certainly went way above and beyond the call of duty.  What a great outfit.
It took me just about a month and a half to get him from Virginia to Nova Scotia.  Well ... actually it only took him five days to travel from Virginia to Nova Scotia (via Toronto Ontario).  I was the one who had to WAIT!  Apparently there isn’t a lot of shipping traffic going from the USA to Nova Scotia – who knew!  However, the shipping company was great – he arrived in fine form – on Thanksgiving Monday – how appropriate!
Meet Adios Tiki
This is him just as he came off the shipping trailer.  Pretty calm and cool for a 3 and ½ year old.

His background is Polish Arab and he has some pretty good bloodlines.  He has a great personality – friendly, curious and very polite.  Although I can’t believe I own a grey – with our weather, mud brown would have been a much smarter choice.
Here he is meeting his neighbors - Lynn’s horse Spirit and his pasture mate, Austin.

I took him down to the beach on a blustery October day, he was more curious than afraid. And in November – it was all feet in!

Well folks, I think we are just about all caught up with our news now. The new year is going to be fun and exciting!  Merry Christmas and I hope you all have a great New Year!

  1. He's fantastic; Pam !! I'll have to come down and meet this handsome boy, in person ! I was going to say "good luck" but I don't think you're going to need it (- he seems to be easy and eager - two GREAT qualities) so I'll say "have a blast" ! - Wendy
