Winter, spring, summer or fall, all we've had to do is call and they have been there - from farm sitting in summer and winter, to keeping my horses fit for me while I've been away to be with my very ill son, to labour-intensive tasks, to housecleaning, to cooking, to confidant, to comforter, they have been there. So when I was putting this little slideshow together, highlights from 2013, I was thinking about what friendship and love is really all about, and about how our group is known for its signature "LOVE YAH" as we leave a ride site. 2013 has taught me to think of friendship and love more as verbs and less as nouns. I have latched onto this strong realization that when based in good intention, it is the "action" of "doing" things together and "doing" things for each other that deepens the bonds and enriches the relationship. This is nothing new...but you know how sometimes you understand things with your head, and then all of a sudden you understand the same words with your heart...and they have such a stronger impact on you. Well, that's what I'm going through right now with this simple little thought of considering friendship and love to be more of a verb and less of a noun. Light bulb moment for me and probably pretty meaningless for most others! Regardless, when you hear me shouting out love yah to the tidal treasures gang next year, know that the bond behind that endearing little salutation strengthens with each passing season - winter, spring, summer and fall.
